Artwork description:
“Lluvia” is a captivating piece of floral artwork that features a vase holding three vibrant, blooming flowers with abundant petals. The painting bursts with pastel colors, including soft lilacs, greens, blues, and yellows, creating a gentle yet dynamic palette. The petals and leaves appear to burst forth in all directions, as if they are dancing with the light, with their reflections subtly captured on the surface of the cylindrical vase that holds them. This delicate piece of flower art exudes a sense of balance and harmony, radiating graceful movement and vibrant energy.
Story behind this piece:
I found this canvas abandoned in a corner of my art school, and since I didn’t have another one on hand, I decided to give it a chance to shine. I don’t know who its previous owner was, but it was clear that whoever had attempted something with it had given up months ago, as it was dusty and covered with some cobwebs.
I don’t know what part of me chose it among the others that were there. Maybe it was the darkness and contrast of the red smudges, of which you can now see little, or the bright yellow that helped me connect every piece of this work.
It was an enormous challenge. Its dark colors predominated too much and completely contradicted what I usually paint, which are such bright and cheerful tones. I don’t know if it was facing that part of me that I sometimes don’t want to see or the fears I don’t want to confront, those that you set aside until one day you realize you can’t keep going that way.
And what would you think if I told you that you could paint them in colors, just by facing them and accepting them for what they are?
Today, as I finish it, it gives me an impressive sense of peace and, at the same time, surprises me. I think in this particular work, there’s such a big piece of me that I didn’t realize until today, when I put the brush aside, took two steps back, and saw it for what it truly was and what it became.
What joy to have these brushes in life and to be able to change it with just a few strokes.
