Details
This linen piece features three large white flowers and four smaller ones, gracefully dancing among petals in soft neutral and gray tones, set against the pure white linen background. The artwork evokes a sense of fluidity and motion, as if the flowers are gently swaying in a breeze. While the composition is largely monochromatic, subtle flashes of blue are delicately woven into certain areas, drawing attention to the smallest details and adding a quiet vibrancy to the otherwise serene palette.
“Sonata” is part of the series Las casas blancas de mi casa (The White Lilies of My Home), inspired by these flowers that played such an important role in my life in Mexico. They were my mother’s favorites, always present in our home, welcoming anyone who crossed the doorway with their delightful scent. This piece is a tribute to the rituals we create to feel comfortable and to make those around us feel at ease. It reflects how, through these small gestures, we seek to bring a sense of balance and harmony into our lives, as if their presence could ensure that everything is, and will be, alright.
